I hope you have been well since we last spoke~!! I noticed this week how orange and yellow the leaves on the trees were becoming, and how quickly it gets dark now. I love the autumn months (and of course, Halloween). Autumn is also one of my favourite times to go out adventuring in lolita fashion.
I always feel that Autumn has a cosy, bookish, rainy & and sometimes academic feel to it - feelings that I also associate a lot with wearing lolita, and it's during these months that I find myself falling back into more Classic coords. So I thought today we could chat about some of Angelic Pretty's August releases, which to me perfectly embody all of these feelings.
First we have the Senior Student series - I love the academic feel of this collection. It's so elegant and would be perfect for sitting in a magnificent old library on a rainy autumn day, reading & researching away~!
~Senior Student Blouse~
The Senior Student collection features this absolutely beautiful blouse, which to be honest is one of my favourite pieces. It has a gorgeous sailor-style collar, with detachable front bow brooch and delicate lace detailing. It comes in Grey, Navy & Black.
I really adore how versatile this blouse is. It works well with lolita and would look excellent paired with the JSK from this release, but it also could be worn outside of the fashion as well.
~Senior Student One Piece~
Also in this series is the Senior Student One Piece dress. I absolutely love this dress - I think the square collar is absolutely beautiful, and I love the long sleeves. This OP features lovely embroidered logo detailing, and lace along both the collar and the cuffs.
This OP gives me a very classic and mature vibe, and as with the other pieces in this series, I feel it could be worn casually as a more every-day option in any lolita wardrobe. It comes in Navy, Black and Grey - although the worn stock photo of the grey colourway looks almost sax. This OP is perfect for the autumn season~!
~Advanced Student Jumper Skirt~
The next pieces from this collection are the Advanced Student Jumper Skirt. This JSK comes in Grey, Black & Navy. It features lace detailing, embroidered logo on the waist and a removable back bow.
I have to say that I'm not entirely blown away by this JSK. It seems to me a little plain. However, that is not necessarily always a bad thing ! I think that the Senior Student Blouse paired with this JSK would liven it up significantly, and the model wears a blouse from a different series, so I think this dress could be quite versatile. It would also work nicely in more casual co-ordinates and everyday wear.
~Advanced Baret~
Lastly in this series is the Advanced Baret, which comes in Grey, Black & Navy. It has an elegant Angelic Pretty logo embroidered on the front. It does not seem like the back bow is removable.
I am a huge fan of barets with lolita, not just in the Autumn but all year round so I was very happy to see these featured in this series~! As with the JSK, I do find them a little underwhelming though. However, I love the embroidered logo at the front. I just wish that the stock photos were a little more flattering, and less like chefs hats ;0;
The next collection released alongside this is the popular Lady Ribbon series. I absolutely adore every single item in this series - I think the colourways are so autumnal and beautiful, and the detailing and fabrics used are very nostalgic of older eras of EGL fashion. Absolutely perfect for taking a rainy autumn stroll~!
~Lady Ribbon One Piece~
First in this series is the stunning Lady Ribbon One Piece dress. I am absolutely besotted with this~! I love the collar with it's elegant velvet ribbon and wide lace detailing, the contrasting bib front and the long sleeves. The use of lace along the hem that matches the main colour of the OP rather than contrasting it is something quite unusual in lolita pieces but it works so well here and gives a very beautiful impression.
This OP comes as a set with a matching headbow. The ribbon at the collar and back bow are both removeable. It comes in Black, Navy & Wine colourways.
As with the Senior Student OP, I think this piece is very mature and certainly falls within the category of Classic, but I also think it has very subtle old-school feel to it, especially the black colourway with it's contrasting white lace collar.
~Lady Ribbon Hair Band~
And the final item I have to show you today is the Lady Ribbon Headband. This is such a gorgeous piece, made of velour fabric and featuring the classic Angelic Pretty bow charm. It also comes in 5 colours - Bordeaux, Black, Pink, Navy and Red. This could be paired beautifully with the Lady Ribbon OP, but it's range of colours would make it suitable in many other lolita coordinates.
I absolutely love the use of velvety velour for this headbow, and also the statement size. I think this would look wonderful not only in a lolita outfit but worn casually even outside of the fashion. It also comes on an elasticated headband (also in velor) rather than clips, meaning it would make a cosy addition to any Autumnal coordinate.
